The project leverages performing arts to break through the traditional model of elderly services. By tapping into seniors’ drama potential, it enhances their self-worth and well-being, enabling them to shine on stage and thrive in later life. Over the years, the project has taken root in the community, nurturing numerous senior artists. Looking forward, the project will continue offering advanced courses to enhance participants' drama skills and engage trained seniors to lead community workshops, bringing the arts to more seniors and the wider public. It will also feature community performance tours and the second Hong Kong Creative Ageing Arts Festival, showcasing the achievements of senior performers, fostering intergenerational and cross-sector exchange to deepen its impact in the community.
The Programme has nurtured a group of passionate senior drama practitioners. After completing a 300-hour professional drama training course and a 100-hour Professional Drama Instructors training course, 25 seniors became qualified drama instructors. They have since delivered approximately 400 hours of Outreach Drama Experiential Classes to diverse community stakeholders, including the elderly, children, and students, reaching more than 2,800 participants. This year, 22 graduates of the professional drama training course further enrolled in the Directing Workshop to deepen the understanding of drama from director’s perspective, embracing a fresh chapter in their later life.
